Tanning Lamps

Tanning Lamps
Tanning lamps are found in tanning beds and they provide the rays that will change the colour of your skin. Different manufacturers offer different strengths of UVA and UVB light.

Many of the suppliers seem to disagree about which is the best level in terms of strength of the light. However, all I know is that the stronger the tanning lamps, the faster you will tan and there more damage you can do to your skin.

Tanning lamps have 5 times more UVA radiation than natural sunlight which is surprising to me. Also, there are no regulations to control the levels of UVA and UVB rays on tanning lamps. One of my girlfriends who is also a model has been using tanning lamps for years.

Recently the skin on her chest has become very thin and leathery and no amount of moisturisation helps. She is blaming tanning lamps. Also, when I last used a tanning lamp I got itchy, red bumpy skin, which was very unattractive, I have since discovered that this is a condition called 'Polymorphous Light Eruption' - gross!

However, if you are still intent on using tanning lamps then please reduce your usage and start getting into sunless tanning which with a bit of practice and or the right brand for you can reveal a beautiful tan.
