Tan Shops
Different tan shops offer different services and quality of machines. It is true that some tan shops are more responsible than others and will watch how many sessions people (90% women) have.
They shouldn't let you have more than 10 sessions a year if they are serious about your health and the risk of skin cancer. However, I was surprised to see this on a major tan shop chain's website in their FAQ's…
Q. How often should I come to keep my tan?
A. One or two sessions per week and the daily use of a moisturiser will keep your tan.
That advice would lead to a staggering 96 tan shop sessions per year! A study by the Skin Cancer Federation found that women who used tan shops 10 times or more a year had seven times greater chance to get skin cancer (the dangerous one) than women who did not.
Remember that the staff in tan shops are in business and often work on commission. They are not your friends so you have to understand the risks for yourself.
